Etched Glass and a Shade Pull
I was just in the Pritchard House again recently (I'm on a committee to help put the interiors of the house together once it's stabilized) and took a few interior shots. The house is absolutely wonderful and has seen little alteration (except for a few odd choices in light fixtures, paint colors, and wall textures!)
This door is original to the 1891 house. The Pritchard family built the house and descendants lived in it until May 2005 - so the monogram (if that's the right term) has always remained accurate.
I forgot to mention I reversed this shot so the monogram would read correctly - it reads correctly from the outside, but since this was taken from the inside of the house, it was originally backwards.
Door with stain glass detail
Finished door with color added to 'ice cream cone' detail. The black lines are about 2mm thick and form a resivor to drip in the transparent color inks. For the cone I used both amber and brown inks on opposite sides then carefully drug them together with a toothpic to imply shading. Stain glass typically has irregularities in the colors anyway, so I used that as a way to give the 3D effect.
Hinges are just wood relief colored black with a sharpie. The door actually swings on the two pins so the 'old world' hinges are just decorative.
After this photo, I used amber & brown in an irregular mix in the thin trim stain glass border pieces. It was a cool effect!
